Building Tomorrows Together Project

The Building Tomorrows Together Project works alongside families as they explore options for their adult sons and daughters with a disability to move out of the family home and into a place of their own.

The objectives of the project are:

  • To explore goals and future plans with families who have a son or daughter with a disability.
  • To research and provide information regarding various accommodation models for adults who have disabilities.
  • To support families to explore and implement models suitable to each family’s individual needs.
  • To research a range of creative accommodation options and to provide this information to families.
  • To link in with other agencies (both government and non-government) who may be able to provide useful information or practical supports to families and young people with disabilities.
  • To engage with families to talk about their visions for the future and to support them to set goals and make practical steps to start to work towards their visions.
  • To provide opportunities for families to get together to share their stories and insights.

The Building Tomorrows Together Project is funded through the Charles and Sylvia Viertel Charitable Foundation, which is administered through the ANZ Trustees.

The project works in conjunction with Kyabra’s Social Enterprise Division giving families an option to link with affordable, accessible and long term secure accommodation.

The project primarily supports families who are connected with Kyabra’s Disability Service, however, referrals will be accepted from any family within the Kyabra geographic area who is interested in exploring future options for their son or daughter to move out of the family home.
